It took long enough, but I finally turned sixteen. It is really weird to me because I am one of the youngest in the grade and there are people that are easily a year older than me. I will be getting my license soon which is very exciting because then I won’t have for rides everywhere. I did not ask for anything specific for my birthday, I am mainly getting clothes because I only really have a list of things that I want for Christmas.

Driving used to freak me out but now I really like it. It’s calming and it gives you a lot more independence in the world. It can be seen as almost starting a new chapter of your life and one step closer to growing up. What I love about driving is being able to play your own music with the windows down and no one can tell you how loud to put it. It’s my favorite thing to just go down a really long road with the windows down and loud music and just relax for a bit, while still being cautious of course.

There are a lot of new hints in my book. The main character has lost some of her memory due to trauma and she is trying to remember what she forgot. It’s written with the chapters of her trying to regain her memory and the night she forgot, they are mixed into each other to give subtle hints. I think that the main character was running from a murderer and just escaped.

Someone has been stalking them since the beginning of the book, even though the characters ignore the subtle hints. They ignored the foot prints in the snow and the noises so the wouldn’t have to worry. I think that the story symbolizes that even if we want to believe it people don’t change. People only learn to hide their true selves from the world more and hiding the “bad” side of themselves. This is true with all of the characters, except one that is unable to control their emotions.

Multi genre reflection English

This week was stressful for me, not just for this class but other ones too. The project that we are working right now is out of my comfort zone. There is not a lot of direction in this project which I am not yet used to. I like getting straight forward instructions that will walk me through the process of the project. This project gives you a lot more freedom and that can be good but also be hard.

I have to figure out how to function without someone over my shoulder walking me through everything. I tend to question myself when there is not a lot of instructions. This is because I don’t want to do the work wrong, but it’s not bad to mess up because I can then learn from my mistake and get better. I think that this project is a good learning opportunity to make myself. a better student.

Lately I have been making jewelry a lot, nothing complex, but I still enjoy it. I like wearing them and being able to say that I made it. I have made a couple rings, nothing too fancy. I have made a decent amount of earring though. I really like fun earrings because in some ways it can show your personality and what your style is. Me and one of my friends, we both love fun earrings that some people probably wouldn’t wear because they are a bit loud.

Rings on the other hand, they are my current obsession. I wear at least one ring on almost every finger, I have so many more at home that I can’t wear because I don’t have anymore room on my hands. One of the reasons I like rings so much is because my grandma is equally as obsessed with them as I am. She gives me a lot of her rings and I think it’s really cool to pass down stuff in the family.  The rings that I wear are either my grandma’s, or my mom’s from when she was in college.

The book that I am reading is In a Dark, Dark Wood. I am enjoying this book a lot because I enjoy mystery and suspense when it comes to books. I think that in the beginning when it was talking about how the main character was running from someone. She described the surroundings as woods and the house that she went to for a bridal shower is in the woods. I think that the main plot is going to occur in that house.

This is significant because she mentions how something about the bridal shower felt off and I think that is the author foreshadowing the rest of the plot by doing that. I noticed that the author talked about how the character is very into running and has a somewhat strict schedule. I think that the author has put in many hints that foreshadowed what is going to happen in the story. So far I really like this book and I think that it is going to be very interesting.

This past week has been a good one, sure I’ve been a little bit stressed, but that is normal with me still somewhat adjusting to the work load this year. Dance has started back up again and I am beyond happy. I am not doing competitive dance this year and this is the first year that I haven’t done it since I was in fourth grade. It’s different, but I like all of the extra time I get. I know this sounds extremely cheesy, but dance is such an amazing thing once you really learn to appreciate it.

I haven’t really danced in around five months because of corona and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. After not dancing for so long when you get back to it, it’s like you’re rediscovering why I started dancing. It’s so nice when you figure out how you’re actually supposed to move with the music and it feels like there’s energy radiating off of you. I’m just so excited to be back to dance and have my own time to get my mind off of stress and just have fun.
